The 2026 Independence Marathon

The IM Marathon 2026 is scheduled to take place on 4 October 2026 under the theme “Save a Mother.” The event seeks to raise awareness about maternal health, with a particular focus on preventing maternal hemorrhage — one of the leading causes of maternal mortality. Through this initiative, we aim to advocate for safe pregnancy, safe childbirth, and improved maternal healthcare services.

TMR International Hospital is the main medical sponsor of the marathon, in partnership with Stanbic Bank and Old Mutual, reaffirming its commitment to improving maternal health outcomes and supporting life‑saving community health initiatives.

In the days leading up to the marathon, a blood donation drive will be conducted to help strengthen blood reserves for mothers experiencing obstetric emergencies. The campaign was officially launched to mobilize communities, partners, and stakeholders to participate in this important cause and to promote the value of voluntary blood donation in saving lives.

The marathon will also provide an opportunity to engage participants and the wider community on maternal health issues, while increasing awareness of TMR International Hospital’s healthcare services. In addition, the event will serve as a platform to encourage more registrations for the TMR Golden Living App, connecting individuals to accessible healthcare information, services, and wellness resources.

By combining advocacy, community participation, blood donation, and digital health engagement, the IM Marathon 2026 aims to make a meaningful contribution toward reducing maternal deaths and promoting safer motherhood for all.
