TMR International Hospital Joins the Independence Marathon to Run for a Mother
As the medical partner of the Independence Marathon, TMR International Hospital took an active role in supporting the health and well being of participants throughout the event. The marathon provided TMR with an opportunity to bring its commitment to healthcare directly into the community ensuring that as thousands of people came together to run, walk and celebrate, their health remained at the heart of the experience

Held under the powerful theme “Save a mother,” the marathon brought together sport, community and healthcare around a cause that affects families across Uganda, improving maternal health and helping prevent deaths caused by complications during childbirth. For TMR International Hospital, the event was an opportunity to put its commitment to healthier communities into action. As the main medical partner of the Independence Marathon, TMR International Hospital provided medical support while joining organizers, partners and participants in championing the cause of safe motherhood.
Running for a Cause
Throughout the marathon, TMR's medical team was present to provide first aid and immediate medical support to participants, ensuring that runners had access to professional care whenever it was needed. From minor injuries and exhaustion to other health concerns that can arise during a physically demanding event, the TMR team remained ready to respond.

For TMR International Hospital, being on the ground was about more than fulfilling a sponsorship role. It was about putting its commitment to healthcare into action being present when people needed care and helping create a safe environment for thousands of participants to pursue their fitness goals.
The hospital's involvement also aligned naturally with the marathon's wider focus on maternal health. By supporting an event dedicated to raising awareness and resources for a critical healthcare need, TMR reinforced its commitment to promoting better health outcomes and making healthcare a shared community responsibility.
TMR International Hospital: Supporting Every Step
As the medical partner, TMR International Hospital was part of the team working to ensure that participants had access to medical support during the event. The hospital's participation also went beyond race-day medical care.

In the build-up to the marathon, TMR supported by liaising with Ministry of Health and Mengo Blood bank to strengthen blood reserves for mothers who may require emergency transfusions during obstetric emergencies through encouraging people to donate blood on the main activation that took place on the 19th September 2026. The campaign encouraged members of the community to recognize the life-saving value of voluntary blood donation.
This message was central to the “Save a Mother” campaign that sometimes, saving a life begins with something as simple and powerful as donating blood.
From the Northern Bypass to a National Cause
The 2026 edition also marked a significant milestone for the Independence Marathon, with the 42km route incorporating the Kampala Northern Bypass.
After the organizers moved the start and finish venue to Metroplex Naalya, the route remained focused on the Northern Bypass, with the full marathon covering the stretch between Namboole and Busega.

The change brought the marathon closer to a community setting while retaining its ambitious road-running challenge. At Metroplex Naalya, the atmosphere reflected the diversity of the event. Experienced runners chasing personal bests, first-time participants taking on their first race, corporate teams running together and families coming out to support a cause that affects everyone.
More Than a Marathon
The Independence Marathon demonstrated the power of sport to bring people together around important social issues. Every kilometer represented more than physical endurance. It represented a collective commitment to mothers, families and communities. Through its involvement, TMR International Hospital helped reinforce an important message: healthcare is not only about treating illness but it is also about prevention, awareness, community action and creating systems that save lives.

The marathon provided a platform to engage participants on maternal health while encouraging healthier lifestyles and greater awareness of available healthcare services. TMR also used the event to promote its Golden Living App, connecting users with healthcare information, services and wellness resources.
Celebrating Independence Through Health and Community

Independence Marathon brought together thousands of Ugandans in a shared effort
to promote fitness while supporting a cause with the potential to save lives.

its broader vision for healthier individuals, stronger families and healthier
communities. As
the runners crossed the finish line at Metroplex Naalya, the real victory
extended beyond race times and medals. It
was about raising awareness, it was about giving, it was about supporting
mothers.
